A horde of Grunts attacking Karl
The Grunt Zombie is the most common zombie in Nazi Zombie Army. They are relatively slow and easy to kill in small groups. However, their strength comes when they attack in hordes.
Variations
Common Grunt
The basic, most common zombie in the games.
Suicide Grunt
A variation of the common grunt whose only attack consists of running into a group of players and detonating a grenade, causing a high amount of damage, and incapacitating players who are already damaged. This variation runs at the player, and will try to detonate in the middle of a group of players.
Traits
Speed
The Grunt Zombies speed can range from a slow shuffle to a sprint. The common Grutn zombies on average move slowly, especially compared to the other, deadlier variaties.
Weapons
The Grunt Zombies generally hold a variaty of things, ranging from nothing at all to meat hooks. However, they only use them as clubs.
Elimination
A single headshot with just about any weapon is enough to kill the Grunt. However, if a headshot is unattainable either due to skill of inoppurtune circumstances, 2-3 chest/neck shots will generally be enough to do the job.
Resurection
Unless a headshot is used to eliminate a Grunt, there is a good chance of them resurecting, posing the same threat as before.
Tactics
Grunt Zombie
- An easy way of taking out the lone Grunt is to simply hipfire the sniper rifle, using the CTRL button to bring up the crosshair for increased accuracy. This is an OK tactic for at most 2-3 Grunts for each person in the group
- Another way of taking down the lone Grunt is to run up to it and kick it down using the SPACE button, then using the CTRL hipfire on the sniper rifle to get an easy headshot, ensuring the zombie doesn't resurect behind you.
- For large groups, the use of traps are sometimes best, especially if you know you are about to get to a safe-house. The Trip Mine and Land mine are both excellent choices. The Dynamite works, but since you have to shoot it to detonate it, It would be better saved for single, more powerful enemies.
Suicide Zombie
- This variety is rarer, but deadlier since they run at the players, and should take immediate priority over the lesser Common Grunts.
- Try to kill the Suicide Grunt in the middle of a group of Grunts, since even after death, the grenade will detonate, killing the other zombies.
- If you manage to shoot the grenade that the Suicide Grunt is holding, it will detonate, killing it and nearby Grunts. This will also net the shooter the achievment, "Got you, didn't I, you little sucker!"
